Measured Building Surveys

We use the RICS guide to surveys of land and buildings as the starting point for any measured building survey. We then adjust the specification, depending on the client’s requirements and the general site conditions.

In addition to traditional methods of measuring buildings using tape measures, we also utilize the latest, state of the art 3D scanners to create 3D point clouds and orthophotos to help us pin point any potential irregularities in older, more established buildings to ensure the highest degree of accuracy.

Our standard measured building survey would comprise of floor plans, external elevations and a section through the building. Standard details would include ; walls, doors, windows, stairs, radiators, exposed timbers, purlins, plates, beams, changes in floor level, pipes, ducts, kitchen ware, sanitary ware, incoming services, and all relevant heights.

Additional survey detail can be added, such as light switches, IR sensors and electrical sockets. Or detail can be removed to produce basic layout plans.

Elevations are particularly important when surveying historic and listed buildings and we can provide very accurate, detailed elevations showing intricate features and surface changes. Depending on the age of the building and whether it has listed status, we can include everything from exposed timbers, thatch, lead lined window detail, weathervanes, decorative cornices and drainage goods down to the smallest detail such as the house number and even door handles.
